Development Status

Hi my name is Dan and I am coooooding. Head over to the camelcamelcamel.com forums with any and all bug reports, feature requests/suggestions, hate mail, etc!

August 17, 2008 The Wishlist importer is working again. The site has a new header. The sidebar on the homepage now has a Support section.
August 3, 2008 Deleted price data collected before May 1, 2008 to filter bad data. Fixed a caching bug in product pages. Added a Clear All Filters link to the Your Products page. Nithya (of Cosmic Shovel fame/fortune/glory) made the price history graphs, as well as other float-y bits, more accurate; Nithya smart, Dan dumb. A bug with Opera and creating/editing camels was also resolved.
July 11, 2008 Blue lines on price charts show up properly. Camel create/edit forms now show no price rather than 0.01 when the current price is N/A. The first price tab with data is shown by default instead of the Amazon Price.
July 9, 2008 I fixed a bug involving example prices being set to -0.01. A features page was added, containing fairly detailed descriptions of the main features of the site. It's worth checking out, you might find out something very interesting. A caching bug was fixed regarding camel pages and rss feeds.
July 4, 2008 Caching seems to be working on the product/camel pages and the search results pages, so try it out and let me know if anything is broken! I also updated the search results page to include links to the price history RSS feeds, as seen here.
July 3, 2008 A quick update while I work on caching: every product now has price history RSS feeds for each price type! Now you don't have to track products if you prefer to just watch your newsreader.
June 19, 2008 Today begins the adventure into caching as I endeavor to make the site load like a snapping turtle with its shell on fire, or maybe even faster.
June 15, 2008 Updated: product pages now have inline camel creation and editing for javascript-enabled browsers.
Updated: camel pages are now simplified to include only the price information which you are tracking.
Updated: price history graphs have more y-axis (price) labels and a background grid to help you more quickly match points to dates and prices!
Fixed: rounding error in the creation of camels, resulting in the desired price being one cent below the input price.
Fixed: the product updating robot is now much more fault tolerant.
Fixed: bug in per-product tracking statistics.
June 08, 2008 Work continued on the product and Camel pages today, as seen in screenshots here and here. These changes add the ability to track multiple price types (Amazon, Third Party New/Used) per product, as well as a Price Type filter in your Camel list. Some tweaks were also applied to the Camel list proper as well.
June 06, 2008 The Cosmic CTO and I redesigned the product page today, including the addition of a button that takes you to the Amazon product forums. And the Greasemonkey script now supports all locales!
May 28, 2008 There is a new thing on product pages: price point tracking summaries. Useful or not? Tell me in the forums! Also, the Users menu was renamed to Your Account...I hope that makes more sense.
May 26, 2008 I fixed a bug in the price graph code regarding the blue-line-of-desired-pricing; it should scale correctly now, except for the one edge case which I'll save for later. The menu at the top was also tweaked, please let me know if it is better or worse than it was. I also fixed an IE only bug in the product page.
May 12, 2008 I've been working on the tracked products list tonight and added a Status filter ("New"), as well as more icons / graphical feel-goodery.
May 11, 2008 There is now a Locale option in your user profile. I also fixed a bug in the Amazon code regarding price lookups and locales. And instead of emailing me, please use the new forum from now on. Thanks.
May 10, 2008 I added a login option which lets you stay logged in between browser sessions; now you stay logged in for one week. This should be used only on personal computers (nothing you use at the public library or such).
May 9, 2008 Apologies for the downtime tonight, I was upgrading the web and database servers. Now the servers will be much more stable and awesome.
May 6, 2008 I fixed a bug involving the import of non-US (canada, specifically) wishlists tonight; let me know if anyone else has trouble. I'm also trying to streamline some of the pages on the site if anyone has any ideas...
May 4, 2008 The Greasemonkey script was given a shot of life (although it won't require you to install a new version); it now adds price history to Amazon product pages (see here). Some locale-related bugfixes were also thrown in for good measure. Product pricing graphs now have a blue line where your desired price goes!
May 3, 2008 Today I continued my work on the products page by changing the Is Active? filter to the Status filter, which seems a much more appropriate label (it also received new options.) And I brought back the alphanumeric filter, too. The filters as well as the product sorting options are sticky, in that they are tied to your session and will remain active until you change them or log out. Tracked products are now paginated, 25 per page.
May 2, 2008 I installed sendmail on the production server, so it will send emails now. And I upgraded the tracked product list tonight, it seems pretty decent.
May 1, 2008

Sorry if anyone got some errant/extra alert emails tonight, that's just me trying to avoid a DB reset. In addition: a pricing bug, a Safari bug, and some locale-related issues were resolved. And anonymous users can now track 3rd party prices, no more restrictions!

Now you can get all of your product alerts in one RSS feed (registered users only).

Apr 30, 2008 Locale support is online, please give it a try and report any bugs you find. See the bottom of the page for that. Otherwise, I made some fixes to the Wishlist Importer so it should work again (or, for once). And I fixed another bug in the price lookup code, too. (Go me.)
Apr 29, 2008 The prices of Amazon Unbox, Digital Downloads, and the like should now be fixed. Same goes for items with Variations, such as clothing. I also added links to the Greasemonkey script in a few places, and most pages should now have useful titles.
Apr 27, 2008 I rewrote the Amazon code, please try it and let me know if there are problems. Of note: Amazon prices are now completely separate from Third Party prices.

Yep.
